Help! Dropped Keys Down Right Side Post Hole

Recommended Posts

Hey I am in need of a little help from my friends. My fiancée was getting in the passenger side of my truck and accidentally dropped the keys down the post hole in the truck bed. I thought no big deal since they should drop right down and out since they are a straight drop down like my old K30 truck bed.

NOPE they are not stuck inside the tube there and cannot come out. They slipped pass the tab that is there to create the bottom of the post hole and are not visible to me. Is there a way that anyone knows to get them out without cutting the tube to get them out or taking the truck bed off and flipping it? Any suggestions?

If they went down, they gotta be able to come up. Take a metal clothes hanger and straighten it out and bend a hook on the end ... Go fishin!

Or, get one of these claw things where the 3 prong end comes out like a claw and can grab them... should be easy enough...

That's it right there.

Except I'd make her fish them out. :)

Front post hole or the back one? If it was the back on you can take the tail light out and have access to it. If it was the front one (I've not messed with the fronts) I think you should be able to get under the truck and reach in, if its like the back at least.

id try fishing it out with a coat hanger/magnet and a flash light... and convince her to give you a bj while doin so... followed by making an amazing dinner

If all fails, there's a tool called "Sawzall" :uhoh:

Tried the magnets with rotorooter attached and did not work. Hanger did not work. So I guess next is the dremel.

It is the front post hole which is a large u shaped tube in the truck bed. They are not like the back ones. I wish they were because it would make this so easily.

Yea I am going the Dremel next and use the cutting wheel to get into it and create as small hole as possible to fish the keys out. If not I will get the sawzall out for sure.

Thanks everyone for the tips....we will see how that bj and dinner works out also.
