Just a warning to check carefully before assuming the online instructions will work with a 2011. I found out my 2011 Sierra did not have the "relearn remotes" option on the menu. I checked a friend's 2008 and it did have the option on the menu. I ended up paying the dealer to program it. This did not enhance my early impression of current GM corporate policy.

Just because the truck didn't have the "relearn" in the DIC options doesn't mean you couldn't have done it yourself. There is a procedure to follow, just like the dealership did to get the job done. If you know the couple steps, it takes less than minutes. :D

I had those instructions. There is no relearn menu in the DIC on my truck and since my truck has the DIC, I have no trip odometer reset stem - unless I can't find it.

Also in another thread, someone posted a printout from a GM bulletin stating the 2011 could only be done with the Tech tool, not by the owner.

I see you have a 2011. Have you actually programmed remotes on it?

You can program it yourself for free. You can find the instructions pretty easy online.

2011s can NOT be programmed by us normal folks. Has to be done at the dealer. One of my remotes wasn't programmed when I got the truck and I had to go back to get it done. Rich has posted the TSB several times here. Sucks but that's how it is now.

I got my Remote start programed this morning. I paid $150.00 for the OEM remotes and $150.00 to have it programed at the dealer. The tech told me it could take as long as two hours to do it. They had it done in about a hour. When I bought the truck, the dealer told me it would $500.00 for parts and labor. By shopping around for the remotes I saved $200.00. I jus got one question, There is no indication on the auto heat and air weather it is on or not. I guess I will have to wait to see if the truck is warm to see if it is working. But, It remote starts great :).

The HVAC head won't light up. It will heat or cool depending on outside temp.
