not at all

we do it with all our equipment and you would be amazed what they can find in the oil.

plus it's a good source of preventive mantinence

If you don't mind me asking, why?

Something wrong with your oil?

No, not at all.

It simply tells you the state of your engine.  It'll tell you if excessive amounts of fuel, coolant, etc, is getting into the engine.  It'll tell of metals and other potentially bad stuff that could be going on inside.

I do it about every other oil change.

By doing this was actually the selling point on my Aurora a few months back.  The guy was hemming and hawing over it cause it was a higher mileage car (even though it was a 98) when I pulled out the oil analysis tests that I had done over time on the Aurora, he was impressed nonetheless and felt more comfortable buying the car.  :)

how much is titan labs?

I might do it at my next change.

Also i agree it is great for preventative maintenance.  They did oil samples on major machinery (pumps, turbines, compressors) at my old job (internship).  It keeps things running in proper order and also you can schedule down times around this

I think I bought a 10 or 12 pack of test kits for like $120.  Then each time I use a kit, send the sample in in the pre-paid box and a week or so later I get the test results in the mail.

blackstone has free sample kits (i have one) and the test is like $16

for a Titan 12 pack, you'll end up spending $10-12 (depending how many you buy) per kit anyway.  So you'll either pay up front or pay when you send the test in, what's the difference?  :)

i dont plan on doing so many tests.  I already have the blackstone one filled out
