New Guy With A Few Lift Questions

Recommended Posts

Ok, I am fairly new to the site but have a few questions about a lift kit.

I'm picking up my dad's 08 GMC Sierra All-Terrain this summer when he gets a new truck. The truck now has some 275/70R18 Michelin MS's on it with a Rough Country Leveling kit. JUST TO CLARIFY the lift kit is supposed to raise the front end 2 inches.

The tires now rub on full lockout and when coming out of a driveway or anything of the sort. I want to run some after market 18x9's with a -18 offset and a 325/60R18.

Now the 325/60R18 is a little shorter but quite a bit wider. Would they work with the leveling kit, or should I add a 1.5" body lift also?

You will only rub more if you put aftermarket wheels on. As far a wheels you will need a positive offset around +18 (stock is +31)

As far as those tires, no they will not fit at ALL. 325/60/18 is a 33.4"x12.8" You will need a 285/65R18 or a 305/60R18 and be prepared to trim a little.

Even with a leveling kit and 3" body lift the 325/60R18 will rub.

You need a 6" lift to run that setup.

Thanks for the helpful responses guys.

I was wrong about the offset, the offset is a positive 18 not a negative 18! Doh.

I really don't want to lift it that much so I may just stay with the 285/65R18's.

'nother question, if I would add a 1.5" body lift, would the 285/65R18 still be the biggest I could fit, or if I went with a narrower tire could I fit something a little taller?
