I know i had a similar thread awhile ago but, i cant really find the info im looking for. I remember reading if your VIN # is before a certian # you can only use TES 295 approved?

 

Anyway my truck still has whatever the dealer or allison put in it in 2001 when i bought the truck it has 52K on it now and is due for an ATF service so please help me out

So how many times are you going to ask the same question? You've done it at least 3 or 4 times and have gotten the info that you need.

 

It's not the VIN # its the SERIAL # of the transmission.

 

From earlier thread, straight from Allison's website.

 

Effective January 1, 2007, General Motors no longer licenses DEXRON ®-III fluids.

DEXRON ®-VI fluids may be used in the 1000 and 2000 Product Families transmissions

beginning with S/N 6310670488 and 6320784373

So other serial numbers would be recommended to stay with away from VI. Mobil has their Delvac synthetic trans fluid that is Allison approved

not listed, contact the Allison Technical Assistance Center

at 1-800-252-5283.

 

So find out your SERIAL #.

 

The utmost authority on this subject is Allison. Make a simple phone call. Allison will answer question rather quickly. They are very helpful. Get your answer and move on with your fluid change
