Well I picked up a 01 HD a few months back. 68k on the thing and it's in great shape. The brakes were totally frozen so I fixed that. The only upgrade on it now is a AFE cold air intake. I need to do a tow/haul trouble shooting on it, it doesn't seem to be working now. It has the 6.0 but, I'm not sure which tranny is in it. Can I figure it out by the vin code? Right now my final rpm at 65 is about 2100-2200. What sugestions do you have for upgrades to performance and milage? I know that's an oxymoron question but there has to be some upgrades that don't sacrifice fuel economy.

Thanks in advance, Olymon

364, Are you talking about just a basic engine tune-up, or a tuner for modifying the engine/transmission mapping. Any suggestions on a tuner if that's what you mean.

Dave, thanks, I'll have to give it a look

A tuner, I assume your truck is already running great. I have a diablosport and I love it, but if you any decent power out of it you have to know what you're doing in the custom parameters because the canned tune sucks. Most people here would recomend a BB custom tune though. And the full address to search your vin is..... compnine.com/vid.php

Welcome!

For the tow/haul troubles, most likely a broken wire in the shifter. Very common problem for that year range.

Well I finally made it back to the forum. Seems like AI have no time these days to work on projects. I think the tow/haul is actually working fine, but we'll see later this year when I test it hauling the boat. My most recent issue is brake lines and bled in after replacing them. the four lines laying on the frame by the drivers side door were toast! what a poor place to put the brake lines. I replaced the lines and now I'm trying to bleed the brakes. Is there a trick to making them feel solid? Does the abs distribution block mess with the old fashioned way of brake bleeding. should I just bring it to a shop? Thanks in advance.

Arrrgh, for some reason I can't type right today

Hello & welcome. Yeah, the orange wire.

Yes, bleeding the brakes is different. You need a scan tool to activate the Abs motor and solenoids to purge the air through the control unit.
