2011 Duramax Engine Squeal / Chirp

Hello all, I have a 2011 Denali HD 3500 and I developed an engine chirp and squeal last week. I have 2100 miles on it. I took it in and they said it was the belt causing the noise (fortunately they were able to replicate the problem) Well, that was at 2009 miles, I have only a hundred on it since they put a new belt on it, and the chirps and squeaks are back. Anybody else having this problem with the new duramax engines? I read some other topics that addressed the issue but all seem to be on 2005 and older models, and gas engine as well. I live 40 miles away from the dealership, and can't afford to keep driving back and forth and spending 11 hrs waiting for an answer. It is driving me nuts hearing that noise from a freaking $60k truck. Can anybody please help me out.

needs to be broken in. Unless it sounds like something mechanical is going to fail, I'd wait 5000-10000 miles before taking her in again for this issue.

waiting for it to go away is bad advice.... you bought an expensive truck and shouldnt have to wait for it to settle in as it were...

ive seen trucks with a slightly bad casting that can throw off the pulley alignment. assuming its in the acessories and not the motor its should be an easy fix and diagnose---run the motor on battery power for a few monments eliminating pulleys.

tell them to fix it....

I'd bet it's the power steering pump pulley. Those were (are?) pressed on and if things aren't lined up right, you get the noise.

A "chirp" is usally caused by a misalignment of the pulleys and as Rat said the power steering pully is usually the culprit as they are pressed on. The chirp will come and go with temperature and humidity so it can be a pain to get fixed. The way to tell for sure if it is chirp is to spray a little water or windex on the belt itself when it is chirping. If the chirp stops then the problem is almost certainly and alignment issue.

If the noise does not go away by spraying the belt then the issue is with a bearing in one of the pulleys.
