Need Some Help With Amp Install

Recommended Posts

I have an 06 silverado extended cab with bose. All I'm looking to do is add a sub and amp to the factory setup. Is it ok to wire the amp to the rear speakers for a quick install, or will it not sound good? I have read to use a loc or pac but i'm looking to do it for free using what I already have. If it will work fine to wire off the rear speakers, does anyone know a good place to tap into them? I haven't been able to find anything. Thanks in advance

With a bose system you have an amplifier so using a LOC on an amplified signal isn't a great idea. So you can do one of two things, buy a PAC C2A-GM24 which is a plug and play LOC or tap into the wires from the head unit before the amp and add a loc of your choice.

So I need to tap the wires right out of the head unit so it is not already amplified. That makes some more work, I was hoping to do this easily. If I have to take out the head unit I may as well replace it. If I do tap off here, do I need a loc or can I just tie the wires into the amp wire output? If I still need a loc, I will probably just scrap the idea since the trucks getting traded in next year anyway.
