2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 6l80 Transmission Shifts Wierd When Cold

I recently purchased a 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 5.3L V8 and 6 speed transmission. I have noticed in the past few weeks a wierd shift between 1-2 when the transmission is cold. I haven't noticed it when the transmission warms up. Anyone else have the 6 speed transmission and a wierd shift between 1-2 when tranny is cold. I took back to dealer and asked them to check it out a couple of weeks ago but they think it is normal. Maybe I am just not used to new 6 speed tranny but it seems like it has trouble finding what gear it wants to shift into after the tranny cools. Thanks.

A lot of the 6L80E transmissions seem to have a more harsh 1-2 and 2-1 shift, especially when cold, and the dealers tend to say it is normal. That doesn't make it right, of course, but it is not unusual. The PCM may learn your driving routine and adjust over time to make it smoother. But I've heard others say theirs was still a little stiff-shifting after it was broken in, and I know mine (10K miles) relapses back into stiffer shifts when the temperature drops a bunch.

i dont have it, but i do know there is a learning curve with it

I wish the tranny would shift more firm in the first 4 gears than be so smooth.

My last truck with the 700r4 would hit 2nd so hard it would make your head hit the head rest and 3rd would rattle your teeth.

On my 2008, there was a tech note about it, fix was to drop transmission and replace Orings in middle of trans, then put back in. I never had it done, but the shift bothered me until we traded it.

Mine shifts hard from 1st all the way to 3rd on cold days. I've noticed overall that the 4 sp was more smooth then my current 6 sp but I feel I still have to get used to it.

Also I find that mine hangs when I'm around 55mph. I have to take my foot off the gas significantly in order for the gear to shift to the next one. OR I have to kinda floor it until i get to 60mph to get it to shift and rev at a lower rpm.

I do drive with a softer foot then most people so that could be it also. All in all I'm still learning my way around the performance of this 6 speed.

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering if it was just mine. I had heard there was a learning curve to them but just wondering since it seemed to only shift different when the transmission was cool.
