Ignition Problem

I have been having trouble starting my truck lately. 2005 silverado. 5.3. I put the key in the ignition and and turn and it wont turn over. It almost seems like a worn ignition or something. Not sure if its the key. I had a new one cut from the dealer by the VIN about a year ago. so the key isn't that old. Im not sure on where to begin. The battery is brand new. everything turns on but i just dont get ignition.

The ignition switch itself might be bad. I changed one on my brother's 2003 Chevy Silverado. His symptoms were random no start issues like you are having. I finally investigated the issue when his ABS and Parking Brake lights came on and his HVAC blower stopped working -- all at the same time. After I changed the switch everything worked normal again. I took the old switch apart and two of the contacts were burnt/melted.
