Nice scratch down to the metal.

So I think that is it, wrong again!

How in the Hell does this happen? I am assuming it had to be scratched during production somehow and covered by the bowtie. So will this be covered under my warranty?? Thanks

did you own it since new? Could the bowtie possibly have been replaced by a careless mechanic at the dealership? Since it was going to be covered anyways they probably don't try to take it off clean. you could probably touch that up and wetsand it and it would clean it up though

No I havent owned it since new.

Why would they ever have a need to remove the bowtie? But if it was done during production and the bowtie was placed over it then it would pass inspection and never be noticed

wetsanding is gonna do no good cause it is all the way to the metal.

Put it back on. :uhoh:

There's a reason I took it off! worst case scenario I'll just have to get the tailgate painted.

because when your trucks not even a year old and the bow tie starts looking like mine you get it replaced under warranty

Oh ok, I have had it since august of last year and It still looked pretty good. And there is no record of it ever going to a dealership for that so its probably not the case.

Perhaps the previous owner attempted to remove the emblem, screwed up, then covered his mistake with a new emblem. Dealer wouldn't note this on the vehicle service records.

wetsanding will work fine if you fill the scratch with touchup paint and sand it to level it off

You might as well get the whole tail gate re painted, or use a scratch pen and cover it up for now.

I am going to see what the dealership says first but I can see this road leading to me having the tailgate repainted! If so its not a big deal cause I noticed 2 other chips in it, so it will take care of all of them at once.
