Question About Aftermarket Head Unit.

If I switch out my stock head unit for an aftermarket GPS/DVD head unit, can I still be able to get On-Star navigation (turn-by-turn directions) sent to my GPS?

there are modules to keep OnStar and the OnStar turn by turn feature (that shows in the DIC) should still work.

 

but the downloading to the head unit (either by OnStar or thru the map-quest and google features) you will lose as the aftermarket won't have the programming to interpret the OnStar data, and the aftermarket units can't attach to the OnStar Virtual advisor system.

 

think of it this way, you will maintain (if you choose) the OnStar voice abilities, but will lose the data abilities.

Ok, I thought so... thanks! I guess I'll wait to swap out a head unit till later this year when my On-Star subscription runs out.
