2011 5.3l Pcv Line Connections?

I'm getting ready to install an AMW Oil Catch Can kit on my 2011 GMC Sierra ,which has the 5.3L AFM V8 engine and I have a question about the PCV line connections. The line looks to be a 1/2" grey plastic line that runs from the PCV port on the DS rear valve cover location to a port on the top of the air intake manifold. I was thinking about removing this stock line all together and add some fittings to these two port locations and then use the 3/8" rubber hose that comes with the oil catch can kit for this install. Can someone tell me if this plan will work and if so, what size/type of fittings I will need to connect to these two locations? Thanks.

When I installed my catch can I used 3/8" rubber transmission line and removed the stock line completely. I didnt need any fittings or clamps as 3/8" fit tighter than the stock tube.

Also my truck is an 08 I would think they would be the same, but you might want to check fitment to be safe.

Was the stock PCV line you removed the same 3/8" preformed gray plastic line I mentioned in my original post? Thanks.

On the intake side its 11/32" and 3/8" or tad bigger on the pcv side. I used a clamp on the intake side and didnt even bother on the pcv side as it was plenty tight.

So then both ports have a tube or barbed style tube connection such that a 3/8" hose can slide over and be clamped in place, correct? If so that is exactly what I was looking for, thanks. BTW, where did you end up mounting your catch can on your truck?

no only the valve cover has a barbed tube, you need to reuse the stock connection on the manifold side but leave enough of the plastic hose so you can connect the rubber line to it.

I've been thinking of how I will mount mine. I am considering buying a replacement PCV hose and keeping it on hand and then cutting into the original.

Since I'm cheap-*ss, all I did was cut the plastic line and attach 3/8" rubber fuel line to both ends to run to the catch can. If I want to do away with the catch can at a later date, a 2" piece of the same fuel line will make a handy splice to put the plastic line back like it was.

Yeah i've been trying to get another stock hose to just in case i need it for emissions or something if someone decides to be stupid. I cant find the part number for it though.

So what is this Oil Catch Can all about.

Run8, how hot does your catch can get being attached to the alternator?

Do you remember the bolt size for the pre-tapped holes? I'm thinking about mounting mine in the same location as yours but using a sheet of aluminum or something to act as a heat shield to try and keep the can a little cooler.

Heat wise I think its about as good as you can do short of mounting down low on the frame, I liked this location because its ahead and away from the engine and behind the radiator ( and it was easy :) ).The most important part of the catch can is size (volume) the bigger the better, this allows the vapor to cool and separate the crude from the air, also the longer the length of the run of hose helps the cooling as well. As for the shield, I myself wouldn't bother, its still in the engine bay and its going to get hot with everything else. For the Bolt size on my truck (08 5.3) there was already an OEM bolt in the alternator bracket, I just pulled it and matched it up at a hardware store.
