Oem Rear Park Assist Question

I have to replace my rear bumper on my 07 GMC and I was going to get an used one from the salavage yard. Is it possible to install the factory rear park assist system from an salavage vehicle?

 

If so, what additional items do I need to get off the salavage truck or from the dealer, besides the bumper with all the sensors already installed in the bumper?

I think you need alot more than just the bumper. You'd need the rear trim seat trim that has the flashing/alert lights, wires and programming. I'm sure someone else can chime in on exactly what you need, but I don't think it's a simple mod.

I do not think you can add the option. It is required to be a factory option just like the brake control for trailers. Lots of wires and computer stuff not to mention the change in the interior that was already noted above.

I do think that there are aftermarket systems that can be installed that are similar in function.

You should check with a dealer to make sure, but I think I'm on target with those two options have to be factory installed.

Good luck....maybe I'm wrong about the backing sensors, but I know I am correct about the trailer brake system.
