D Max Questions

Looking to upgrade to a Duramax, looking for opinions on the 5 speed vs the 6 speed ally's in the classic (05-07) trucks. I know the 6speed was only available in the 06 and ups. Does the extra gear make that much difference for a truck that will only tow 5-6k a year? This will most likely be a 3500 dually, unless somebody can tell me what a 2500HD D/A crewcab SB weighs! My current truck weighs 6620 loaded for camping and my pin weight is 2120. I am probably going to be over the GVWR on the 2500HD diesel (9200). Any thoughts or opinions

I really liked the 6-speed in my old 08 Duramax. It shifted great and no complaints at all! You can't go wrong with the Allison, 5 or 6 speed.
