All Terrain Rims

I've got a 2009 All Terrain with the 18x8 all terrain rims.

 

I'm installing a levelling kit, and have been debating buying new wheels and tires, or just buying a new tire.

 

How big of a tire can I put on? and how wide of a tire can I fit on these rims.

 

I currently have 265-65-18s, and I would like to put atleast a 285 on. If I could go wider, I would like to.

 

Any advice, pros and cons, or just general input would be great.

Sab I love the look of your truck! Are those BFG AT or MT? I am looking at purchasing an extended cab similar to yours in black, and plan on running bfgs, I have the mud terrains on my old jeep yj, and they look and ride excellent!

Thanks man, I appreciate it. They are the MT's, the KM2's. I like them... they ride smooth and quiet and are looking to last a long time. I just wish they measured true to size. They look a little smaller than I wanted them to on there.

Could I get Nitto Trail Grapplers 295/70/18 to fit?

 

I definitely want a wider tire.

A 295/70/18 is over 34" tall. I really don't think those will work without a serious amount of trimming...even on the stock rims. A 285 will be wider than stock, just not a whole lot. If you want wider tires, you could go with a 305/60/18...which is about the same height as a 285, only wider. If you're thinking about changing rims, then go with 20's and some 305/50/20 tires. They look great on these trucks.

you really need to learn what all of those numbers mean.....

 

the first number is the width of the tire, in millimeters.

the second number is the sidewall aspect ratio, this number by itself does not tell you how wide or tall a tire will be.

of course, I would hope you know that the last number is the rim size.

 

so, a 285 is 20 millimeters wider than your stock tires and if your aspect ratio stays at 65 it will be a little taller.

a 295 will be even wider, and with an aspect ratio of 70 would be way taller.
