just got my new to me 04 silverado z71 on friday. its mainly a daily driver as well as a tow rig for my jeep. i've never had a chevy truck before and so far so good. a few questions i have because different places i have looked have told me different things. first of all which transmission is in it? i know its a 4 speed and either a 4l60e or a 4l80e. second which rear axle would it have? its a half ton so im not sure which one that would be. lastly which gear ratio would it have with the 5.3? any info you can give will help me.

You have the 4L60e trans and the gear ratio can be found by looking in the glove box at the RPO codes.

 

GU6 - 3.42

GT4 - 3.73

GT5 - 4.10

its fairly modded but i dont like to take it easy with my wheeling when i have to rely on the same vehicle to get me home and to work the next day.
