Sticker Prices

I have a question. I'm in New Mexico for work. After dinner tonight I walked past a GMC dealership. I looked at the sticker price on a 2011 Denali and 2011 All Terrain. Both were about $5000 less than in Montana/Idaho. I can't say they had the exact same options, but I talked to my dealer back home today. He said he just got a Denali in and it was $52,000. The one in New Mexico was $46,000. It looked pretty loaded to me. Anyway just curious, is there a price difference on these trucks in different parts of the country or different markets?

One dealer probably advertised MSRP and other a price reflecting discounts/rebates.

Yeah, will your guys MSRP down south of the border is less than our prices with rebates.

Than you guys get a rebate on that. Explain that one, cause our dollar is the same...and every other car company here in Canada, aside from "The Big 3", have price matched with they're US counterparts.

Get with the Program GM...

I have a buddy buying a 370Z instead of a Corvette cause its 55G after rebates for a Vette here and not 43K like in the US.

Yeah...people buying a 370Z could be a potential Vette customer...and there are a lot of 370's on the road here.

GM has said it will be rising the prices in the states, wish they would just lower the prices here. I only bought my GM because we get fleet prices.

Why does that not surprise me.

This doesn't make sense at all...they're already overpriced compared to the competition...

and they're be all end all Camaro...compare it to something of the equivalent price from a Jap company...it is just sad. Horrible interior, no balls, no handling...fit and finish is just horrendous. After combing it over helping my buddy shop for a sports car...I am sadly disappointed in the Camaro.

The Hyundai Genesis is a better built and more fun car...and its in the high 20's with the 2.0T and nicely equipped. What makes me even sadder, the Camaro is made in Canada.

Another thing...you can get a 135 BMW for Camaro money...and it will spank the shit out of a Camaro. Plus you can get it tuned and massaged to before it leaves the lot, and all under warranty....and financed.

build the truck on the website and see what the difference is. The rebates are not usually on the factory window sticker so I doubt that is it. New Mexico is not south of any border so we are still talking USD prices.

Yeah I'm just saying you guys get way better prices than us, and than get the same rebates on top of that.

I found out today what the differences are and they weren't that significant. Basically the trucks I looked at down here didn't have some of the options. For example the Denali didn't have a sunroof or nav and some other stuff. You can't find one without that in MT. They did offer me a good deal, but it didn't pencil out with driving it back from here so I'll get one in MT. Thanks for the help.

What part of MT are you in? When I was up there most of the dealers had a really good selection of trucks, from fully loaded to no option work trucks like mine.

I realize right off the lot the vette is probably a full second faster in the 1/4 mile but besides that your buddy is getting a better car for his money anyway in the 370Z. A fully optioned 370 will still be at the very least 10k cheaper than a base vette, so if your buddy is into modding at all his Z will be owning z06s for 5k less than a base vette and will have a more refined car to boot.

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
