i have a 07 nnbs silverado 5.3 afm with about 133,000 miles on it. cruise control intermittently, and is completely unpredictable. it works about one out of every ten times i drive the truck. i would like to fix, i love cruise control. any ideas as to what could be causing this? this doen't seem like a common problem with thease....

Are all tires the same size? If so, maybe a bad wheel sensor. Just an idea, but I could be wrong.

May also want to take a look at the brake light switch. If not adjusted properly it can disable cruise.

i never thought of the brake light switch but i bet that is it, last time i was pulling trailor the brakes would turn themselves on and i would have to tap bottom of petal up with my foot to turn off.... how should i check? pick up on pedal with foot and see if cruise works? can it be adjusted?

well, that was easy. it is the brake light switch. never payed attention before because it didnt cross my mind but if i watch my trailer brake controller the little (.) lights up when pedal is depressed when not hooked to a trailor. play with the pedal a little bit, and i can get it to go off and the cruise will turn on just fine.

so my next question is how is it adjusted?

Cruise Control intermittant? Change out the brake light switch, P/N 25981009. About $17, chevy house. You will need a 8mm(?) wrench, a small flat blade screw driver, and a wirey little person to get flat on their back and reach up under the pedal. 15 minutes. Poor design, only lasted 120,ooo miles!

I just recently started having issues with my cruise as well. It only works sometimes. I cut 2 notches off of my spring in my brake light switch about a year ago because my lights took forever to come on during braking, but it just started acting up. I wonder if this is my problem? But my brake lights do not light up until the brake pedal is pushed
