Which Reprogrammer? Superchip or HPP?

I have read on another forum (pickuptruck.com) that the Hypertech programmer is useful, but that the Superchip Max Tuner is a better product for less cost!  The reasoning is that the Superchip allows for changes across the entire power-band, not only at full open throttle (higher rpms), and that there is not a need for changing out the thermostat for a 160 degree Powerstat.  This new thermostat only fakes the computer into thinking that the engine is cooler, thus adding more fuel to the injection and causing an incorrect ratio...which will lead to a higher gas consumption. Also, the Superchip Tuner has the ability to remove the torque management system.  The Superchip Tuner, or the argument for it, has some  validity when compared to the Hypertech programmer. So, I turn to GM-Trucks.com and ask my fellow forum members for their highly valued opinions and feedback.  If anybody is interested, some info on the Tuner can be found at www.superchips.com or www.go-systech.com

Having used both the Hypertech Power Programmer and the Superchip product I will definately say that the Superchip product is better at least for my application with no automatic tranny...I've felt the most increases in accel and pulling with the superchip...just my $0.02

If you have a new body style truck you might want to take a look at this one http://www.runninwiththedevil.com/predator.htm. Mine came in today for my 2001 Sierra 5.3. I put my hypertech up on ebay yesterday. Right now the price is $425 but will blow the pants off of Hypertech. You can download the manual there. The thing that I like about it is that custom programming(for a price) and updates can be uploaded to the unit via a home computer. I didn't get a chance to play with it tonight but I will tomorrow :thumb: There is a guy on another board that was getting his truck dyno'd today testing the actual hp that the unit produces so far no word back from him yet.

Later,
