2009 Gmc Sierra, Viper 5901, Xk09-dlpkgm And Rflchgm Rfloop

I have a Viper 5901, XK09/DLPKGM and RFLCHGM installed on my 2009 GMC Sierra.

I have verified that everything is installed correctly. Alarm works. However, when I hit the button on the remote for remote start, the DIC says "Service Theft Deterrent System". And nothing starts.

I did program the RFLCHGM Loop as per instructions: Install loop around ignition cylinder (I taped it to it), insert key, turn to on, turn to off after 1 - 2 seconds, within 5 seconds remote start the vehicle. I do this, it starts but says "Service Theft Deterrent System" on DIC. Runs for full 12 minutes. I get out of the truck, set alarm, hit the remote start button on the 2-way, sounds like some relays try to start, dash says "Service Theft Deterrent System" and doesn't start. System tries a second time and gives me an error on the 2-way remote that it didn't start.

I can bypass the loop by holding my key above the ignition cylinder and remote starting. Works everytime from any distance. I am wondering if the RFLCHGM is defective? Maybe I installed the loop incorrectly? Does anybody have a picture of how they installed theirs? If I installed incorrectly and then programmed, is the loop garbage since it's supposed to be a one time program?

Also, a small note: Does the rear window defroster come on through the XK09 or do I have to wire that in? It's warm out now and the manual says it won't come on until it is 55F or below. Do i set this on Latch or pulse?

Appreciate any help!

Took out the manual for my truck. It tells you how to program a PASS-Key III+. The instructions are slightly different then what the RFLCHGM instructions say.

Insert the Original, already programmed key in the ignition and start the engine.

After the engine has started, turn the key to LOCK/OFF, and remove the key

Insert the new key to be programmed and turn it to the ON/RUN position within five seconds of turning the ignition to the LOCK/OFF position in above step. The security light with turn off once the key has been programmed.

I'm wondering if I hold the transponder part of the RFLCHGM up to the ignition cylinder after I start and turn off the truck. Then re-insert the same key while the transponder is against the ignition cylinder, turn to ON/RUN within 5 seconds of engine off.

Anybody have any luck with this?

Stumped and any help would be appreciated!

I've solved the remote start problem. I got a new RFLCHGM loop. It was different, it had a small loom around the wire that creates the loop. I taped that to the ignition and plugged it into the XK09. Followed the instructions from DEI's website. No jumping wires!!! Works every time with the remote button! RFLCHGM Link

Still not sure about the rear window/side mirror defrost control and if I have to wire it in or does the XK09 control it via remote? Pretty nice outside now, and I would like to hook it up before it gets cold again.

Also have another issue. My Retained Accessory Power is not working for the factory deck. The dash lights stay lit. Not a big deal, but when I am on a hands-free call, it's nice to have that extra 10 minutes of no key in ignition to talk so I don't forget my key since I use the deck to make hands-free calls. I'm wondering if the wire that I cut that sends the R. Code to the BCM caused the issue? That's what the instructions stated for the XK09. XK09 DLPKGM Link

Help would be appreciated!

Thank-you!

I have a 2009 Silverado. I put in a viper 5704v which is just the updated 5901 and a DLPK, not the XK09 but the idea's the same. Everything was working fine but I had an unacceptable current draw on the battery from the ignition because I hadn't installed the RFLCHGM transponder loop.

When I did the minor rewire and installed the loop I had the same exact symptoms as paradise710. After reading this I wanted to think my transponder loop was no good like his but it seemed to me that I had the loop he described getting the second time. It had a small loom around the wire that creates the loop. I thought maybe it was placement of the loop. I tried everything. Then I disconnected the loop from the dlpk and I put the transponder chip part right on top of the key cylander and it worked without giving the theft light. So now I'm thinking my loop or at least the chip is good. The two sides of the loop plug had continuity also.

I still wanted to test the the loop somehow. So here it is. Apparently all the box does is connect the two wires of the loop when you remote start. So I took a little jumper and joined the two sides of the plug. It was not plugged into the bypass at this point. It was just with the loop part around the ignition and the plug portion jumped together. It worked like a charm everytime. Same as when I held the chip part right on the ignition.

Now you can't just leave it like this because then you'll get the theft light when you use your key. It has to only be jumped when you remote start. So I was thinking my DLPK must be bad. I could still use relays to jump the transponder loop from the DLPK accesory wire. However I was finally able to figure out my problem. For me it turned out to be that wire. The accessory wire (pink on my dlpk). I believe this wire is used to tell the DLPK to conncet the two sides of the RFLCHGM. Mine, because of my sloppy work, had pulled out of the back of the plug just enough to not make contact. Just the one pin on the plug was pulled out so it was a real pain to figure this out.

Anyway, the point of all this is if your having the same problem you can test the loop by jumping the two sides and remote starting. Also check your accessory wire that tells the bypass to connect these wires.

As a side note there's a nice spot for the loop inside the box that the factory loop is in. Just be carful taking things apart. I used a small file to make a notch for the new loop wire to exit the box down where the factory plug goes in. Put your loop in and put a small zip tie at the bottom so it doesn't move around. Comes out extra clean. Peace.
