LarryE Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 what a way to start a day off I didn't hear the news till this morning that Jam Master Jay of RUN DMC was shot and killed. Another one of hip hop's pioneer's brought down way to soon... This one hurts probably more than the others... I think if it wasn't for him and the guys of run dmc, hip hop wouldn't be where it's at today... They brought many bands with them on the ride, they helped aerosmith get their career back on track. R.I.P Jam Master Jay - Jason Mizell January 21, 1965 - October 30, 2002
fishinfreak Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 I heard this morning too. Defintiely not something expected. It might just be me...but 2 Pac and Biggie dieing wasn't that much of a suprise. Their Lyrics and style kind of egged it on. But RUN DMC was all about rocking the mic. They never bashed people or made any contreaversial or disrespectful albums. It really is a shame..... I hope they catch the person that did it. R.I.P

I liked it when Run-DMC were big, before all the 2 Pac, Biggie, Snoop Dogg stuff. When it wasn't about hating each other, it was about the music. I always thought it was terrible what happened to those other guys, but I also thought they brout it on themselves, by publicly encouraging hate and violence. This death is a terrible shock. My heart goes out to the friends and family. These guys seemed to me to be great artists. This is a shame.
General Lee 01 Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 Yes,it is a shame. Wasn't Run-DMC supposed to be making a comeback soon?
Elwood Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 Yes they were recording an album for their 20th Anniversary. I think it was their 8th album. He was shot in the studio by someone who was buzzed in.
Shotgun Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 Thank god Alan Jackson and George Strait are ok!
General Lee 01 Posted November 2, 2002 Posted November 2, 2002 Well, the day after Jam Master Jay's death, MTV did an hour of Run-DMC's greatest hits. And I discovered that I like a lot of their stuff. My favorites are Rock Box, and Tricky.
Elwood Posted November 2, 2002 Posted November 2, 2002 I remember liking the songs "My Adidas", "Mary, Mary", "Tricky", and their Christmas Song. I think those titles are right, but I can't be sure it's been so long. I wish I had seen that show.
