Heater Control Panel Fried?

Recommended Posts

First timer on the forum needs help.

I have 98 GMC Sierra. Yesterday while installing a stereo, something popped in the compartment where the radio and heater control panel sit. There was a little smoke. I think one of the wires touched part of the computer board on the control panel. Now when i turn the heater on, nothing comes out. The blower comes on behind the dash but there is no air coming out of the vents. Hot or cold. No air at all. The AC light won't come on the panel either.

Did i fry my control panel or is there something else that I might have damaged?

Thanks,

Eddie

Did you check all your fuses? Very possible that you popped the heater control. I did something sorta similar, in my 99, soldered in new radio lights had one of them crossed, blew out my headlight switch and fried my radio.

I don't know why but I never checked the fuse. Probably because i was to mad.

I'll check tomorrow. It's weird that the blower comes on behind the dash but no air flowing.

Thanks for the tip

Eddie
