2011 Hd Extended Cab Feedback

Like the title says I would like some feedback from owners of 2011 HD extended cab trucks. I have a 2002 nbs 2500HD shop truck and my daily driver is a 2007 nnbs 2500HD. Both of these rattle and squeek really bad in the doors. The wind noise is at least a little better with the 2007 but it sounds like it's coming apart just pulling out of my driveway. I just got this truck last fall with only 23,000 miles, but it seems to have had a hard life - the hours one the engine are really high for the low miles. I've cleaned and lubricated the weather stripping, but it doesn't make a difference. Are the new ones any better with the new frame and body mounts? I don't want to pay for this truck for 5 more years if I can get a new one that is quieter and better riding. A full crew cab would be too big to drive around town.

I have one and I love it. My ext cab doors sounded like they are loose when I hit a sharp bump in the road at a angle. I figured out that you have to close the doors hard to not have this problem. I think a simple adjustment of the striker will fix this problem I believe.

There is some wind noise at higher speed but not bad at all. These trucks are not really that aero dynamic. Could be the tow mirrors causing some turbulence. It's not a issue with me.

The ride is superb. GM did a great job with the new frame and body mounts. It rides alot better than my previous half ton Tundra.

Thank you for the feed back. I did find it made a difference closing the doors hard and I had to adjust the passenger side striker, but they are squeeking and groaning more than ever now.

Good luck with your decision. My ride is nice and tight with no dash rattles or anything. I'm anal about rattles. I would test drive one to see how well it rides. I think you will be very impressed.

Mine is only a 1500 so it didn't get any upgrades for 2011 but I do notice when the truck is first driven after sitting the noise from the doors seams worse than once it's been running- In the morning when I leave for work I cross a small intersection in front of my house and the crossover road is torn to hell and the doors make all kinds of noise then, but when I come home at night it doesn't make much noise at all. Or maybe I'm just tired and don't notice. :)

I took the entire interior of mine out and deadened the living heck out of it.

There wasn't much there to stop the squeaks, rattles and road noise.

There is now.

Did you use something like DynaMat? It seems like the doors and body mount are what make noise on mine.

As a follow up to this topic - I took my truck back to the dealer to check a list of things before my 12,000 mile (GM Certified) warrantee expired. They checked out the rattles and squeaks and got them all eliminated. The truck is as quite as new now.

If anyone is having these issues, I urge you to take it in because GM does have fixes for these problems.

Well after having driven only 6k i only have 1 complaint with the interior noise. When driving on rough roads and when i hit a pretty hard bump i have a rattle i believe its coming from the passenger seatbelt post. It shakes pretty hard and actually sounds like the ext cab door is loose but its not. After searching about this issue i found out about the upside down J hooks on the backseat have a plastic liner that wear out and cause this rattle. Its seems from other forums its a common complaint. You have to take the back seats out to fix this issue. Other than that little annoying rattle i love my truck.

    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
