Daytime Running Lights On 2006 Lt# Silverado

After owning this 2006 Silverado Crew Cab LT3 (purchased in Alabama) for 5 years I'm embarassed to ask this but...

 

there are two lights inboard of my front turn signals that I can't get to come on. I think they are the DRL's but the only time they light is when I unlock the truck with my key fob.

 

I keep my headlight switch in the auto position...fyi I cannot put it in the off position because there appears to be nothing to hold the switch off as it springs back to auto when I let go of the switch knob.

 

Is this normal for the switch AND how do my DRL's come on. Manual indicates they come on if ignition is ON and it's daylight but I can't seem to figure out when they are on. I checked the DRL fuse and it's good. Was my truck manufactured for Canada as it seems like Canada mfr. vehicles are setup differently that USA...maybe not.

 

For all I know they have never come on since I bought the truck new in July 06.

 

Any thoughts? Love the truck but just curious as I never noticed before as I can't see them while driving.

They come on when the truck is in gear and the parking brake is off. Park in front of a big window at a store and you should see them on.

Yes the switch has a spring and that's normal, if your vehicle was Canadian, the gauges would be in metric. And to test the drl's turn the ignition on and pull the vehicle into drive(vehicle shouldn't be running), and don't engage the e-brake. Either put the vehicle on a level surface to test or use something to jam under the tire.
