Greetings,

I apologize if the answer to this is located elsewhere on this board, but I am reading and searching as fast as I can, but I thought I'd post too. Picking up the vehicle tomorrow, so I can't wait for days...

Am buying a regular wheelbase 12-passenger 2006 Chevy Express van with 6.0 L engine. The RPO list has Stabilitrak listed, as well as the JH6 HD 4-wheel disc brakes. Has the Z82 trailer package as well. Now my question: I do not see the G80 locking differential. Is this typical?

I thought that was a requirement to order the G80 with the Z82 pkg. Also interested in the enhanced traction capabilities that a locker gives. Does Stabilitrak do away with the need for the G80?

I have seen many vans listed with both Stabilitrak and G80, but those all seem to be Duramax-equipped vans.

A local rear end shop has said they can retrofit a G80 to the van. However, I expect that the computer would have to be reprogrammed to "know" that a G80 is back there and recognize what the G80 is doing as far as applying the ABS and Stabilitrak. One dealership told me that a G80 cannot be retrofitted to the van as seperate control module must be present for that type of retrofit and she couldn't guarantee that the computer could be reprogrammed.

Another dealer told me that the G80 could be retrofitted without any reprogramming. It will just do its job separate from the electronic controls without issue.

One dealership said that it could be retrofitted and the computer reprogrammed no problem.

So three dealers, three separate answers. Any idea who's right? Door 1, 2, or 3?

Or is it as I have read in some other places, as said, that the Stabilitrak does away with the need for G80?

Any assistance/input would be appreciated.
