Coin Slot Grill

I have 4 PIAA 2100 lights installed in the coin slot of my 2009 GMC. I really like them mounted there because it keeps them out of the way and looks really clean but I have a cracked a lens from a rock hitting them. I would like to find some sort of mesh insert to protect them but obviously it can't be to tight of weave or it will defeat the purpose of the lights. Also, I don't want to have to buy a whole kit that comes with the upper grill and everything, just the coin slot. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If I can't find one has anyone ever made one? I was thinking I could get some wire mesh and them shape a block of wood to the shape I want it to be and then just form the mesh around it. The I could just use some U-nuts to clip it to the grill. Any suggestions?

They make a billet grill for the coin slot and you can get it off of ebay for about 30 bucks. I have not found a mesh grill to fit the slot. I have used a 2 x 4 (or two 1 x 4 cant remember) to form some mesh to fit the slot and it worked great, but I could never figure out how to mount it. Piece of mesh got put on the shelf and got tossed when I cleaned out garage. (no pictures).

I myself will be getting a billet grill for uppers and the slot.

Thanks, good info. I really would rather have a mesh one because I think it would block less light. Maybe I will try my hand at forming one like you did and try to figure a way to mount it. I need to look at it more but but I think you could just u-clip it to the bumper metal where it turns back for appearance purposes at the edge of the slot...if that makes any sense.

I'll get some pics up if I get any ambition to get one this.

I wedged mine in between the bumper and the frame and then made a small bracket out of a piece of metal and a bolt for extra support. Mine is a gmc though.
