Remote starters

Recommended Posts

I have a basic 02 Sierra and was thinking about installing a remote starter. I was told not to by the dealers service writer (who happens to be a friend) he says that he see's alot of problems with puters and such on trucks with these installed. I don't have keyless entry or power locks so a basic starter is what I am looking for. Any input would be appreciated.

I runn one on my Camry and on my 2000 Chev Ext cab, with no problems at all on either one of them.

The key to years of problem free use is installation, get a shop with quality workmanship.

I hate getting into a cold truck/car!

I have a Viper 550 on my Silverado and haven't had any problems yet.  Get a good shop to do it and you'll be just fine.

I have a 2001 GMC 2500 HD with the 6.0 motor.....The dealer also told me not to put one in and that they would not install one for me....I went to a place that I have been going to for years to buy Alpine stereos and other equipment.....They told me it they could put one in.....It is just a little more expensive to put one in with all the new electronics on these things....It ended up costing me a little over $500.....But in my opinion, it is like anything else....Once you have had one you will always have one..There is nothing better than hitting that button and the truck starting when it is zero out......Or starting it to let the air conditioner run in the summer....I personaly would pay anything to have one in my verhicles......Joe
