Run Engine With Tranny Seperated?

I just installed the new rear main seal in my 1993 GMC K2500 6.2 Diesel. I didn't see anything wrong with it, but after all that work. Can I run the engine before I connect the tranny, if so what about the cooler lines and what else don't I know. I like to check for leaks.

you can just make sure you have some thing to hold the engine from slamming down on to the frame its theres just front motor mounts.
