I live in upstate new york and am thinking I can take the grille out during winter months so it doesn't get trashed. Is this possible or once its in its in. Any experiences?

It is possible. There are little metal tabs that hold the bolt over grille onto the old plastic one from the BACK of the old plastic grill (at least on mine) and are held on by screws that mount thru the front of the bolt-over. The screws are exposed through the front of the grill, somewhat recessed, and not really visible.

It's a LITTLE bit of a pain to remove, as you have to also remove the radiator plastic cladding above the radiator immediately under the front of the hood to get to the BACK of the original grill to remove the bolt over. if you remove this often, I'd recommend buying some of those spare plastic pop-rivets that hold the cladding in place.

I put mine on some years ago, so this is all a little fuzzy anymore.

Short answer: POSSIBLE.

Hope this helps.

I'd rather just leave it in. Do you think it can take the abuse of multiple upstate ny wimters?

I have had mine on for 3+ years now. Ohio winters probably rate a little less in intensity than update NY winters, but so far, I have had no ill-effects leaving it on.

I had mine for 5 years without issue. Looked as new the day I traded it as the day I installed it. :dunno:

leave it in...I've had mine in for a couple years and it still looks like brand new. Our winters in Saskatchewan are a hell of a lot worse, and my truck sits in the parking lot of a potash mine (salt everywhere!) during the week, and the grill still looks new.
