I have a stock 08 silverado and i just order a magnaflow muffler for it. i was wondering is it worth replace all the piping from the cats back or just replace the piping that comes out the back of the muffler. the muffler is a single 3 in in and 3 in out. i live in michigan and the guy at the muffler shop says to replace the muffler and tail pipe and leve the factory piping from the cats. What does everyone think.

Depends on your budget replacing the cats with OEM or aftermarket either way it could get very expensive.I dont see the point might lose some power in stead on gaining some.Cats on this trucks are pretty good flowing stock dont see a point in replacing them.

I run flowmaster 40 series on mine with 3in pipe out the back into 31/2in tips. Sounds great good performance and i left the stocks cats in place. Im driving an 08 5.3 crew cab z71.

I would suggest from what you said you have already....

just put in a splitter from the muffler back to run two tailpipes and tips of your preference.

You are really just wanting sound and not much cost for this simple solution of look and sound.
