GM's Ugly Stick....

Is it just me, or are the Design Engineers at GM intentionally trying to make their products uglier every year? The Avalanche is by far the ugliest thing to come from Detroit since the Pacer/Gremlin, but apparently GM's motto, is why stop there... Now we have the wonderful opportunity to purchse new GM trucks with the same butt-ugly front and rear facias... The funny thing is that the GM designers know how ugly the Avalanche is, because starting next spring, you can order one with out all the Rambo-like plastic. I have a 1996 Silverado....and it actually looks like a truck...what has happened to GM's idea of how trucks should look in the past few years? I hate to say it, but I'm pretty sure that my next truck will be a Ford...at least they still look and perform like trucks...

I don't care for the looks of the new one's either. I do however love the the new GMC's and If I had to buy a new truck tomorrow and a GMC wasn't a choice. I'd pick that ugly Chevy over anything else.

I like the new HD's a lot. I'm seeing more and more on the road everyday here in Texas. It all depends on the color IMO. The Chevy's look real good in Victory Red. The GMC's are some of the best lookin trucks on the road.

these sound like the same complaints everone was saying when they changed them in 99' to the 00-02 face look, I know over 10 people who did not like the change back then, just like now, in 2 years everyone will be fine with the new front end look... 8 out of the 10 now have an 00-02... LOL

But, look at it this way... our parents were saying the exact same thing 20-30 years ago.....

pacodiablo: I feel for you...I have now idea what the SportTrac is supposd to be....lol Maybe a mini-urban assualt vehicle? lol.....

and Torque Junkie: At least your '79 Silverado is a real truck, that probably doesn't ride very well, rattles a bit, and sucks fuel like there is no tomorrow, but....at least it's a real truck...with usable 4wd, and a live axle under the front...

maybe I'm too old-school, but if I wanted a truck that rode like a car, had a leather interior, rear entertainment system, and heated seats......I'd by a BMW....and I guess since I'm on a soapbox....can someone tell me when a pickup became more expensive than a luxury automobile? I remember when a well equipped truck cost around $25k, now days, I can buy a BMW, Mercedes, or a Lexus, for less than a Chevrolet Silverado or a GMC Sierra LT...lol.....

I despise the new trucks. Just makes me sick everytime I see them, luckily that isn't too often. Same with the Avy, they have been around Vegas for a few years now, and I think they have gotten uglier . I like my 01 much better, never had a problem when they changed to that style. Of course the best looking truck out there is the Ford Superduty IMO.

rokbrnc: I know what you are saying about the cost of trucks these days. For the price of some of the diesels trucks out there, I could pick myself up a BMW M3...which would be sweet :thumb:

I'm in agreement on the new GMC's they are the best looking new trucks on the road. The Chevy's need to go back to the drawing board. But I am glad you can tell the GMC's and Chevy's apart now.

I for one love the new front end on the trucks. Especially the dual wheeled versions. They just look awesome IMHO. However the Aztek and the "Vibe" need to go. I also hate the front end that they are putting on the Colorado. Should've went with the trailblazer front end, but nooo that'd be too easy to do.
