I was driving on the highway and the speed limit dropped from 55 to 45. I was going about 60.  I saw the cop and slapped on my seatbelt. He pulled me over, and said I was going 59 in a 45, which I was. There were no cars around me either. Then he says that I am getting a warning on the speed, but I am getting a seatbelt ticket. He says he saw me driving without it, even though I had it on when he pulled me over! I was happy I only got a ? seatbelt ticket instead of a speeding ticket which would go on my record. It still pisses me off though, that when he pulled me over I had my seatbelt on. RRRRRRRRRRRR

I started wearing mine all the time because I got tired of getting the tickets.I actually called the last cop that wrote me one a communist because he was being a smarta55.I then had to question his disbelief at my comment by bringing to his attention that we buy our cars, pay for insurance and taxes not only pay for roads but his salary.

To that he handed me the ticket and said have a nice day while walking back to his car.

I think it should be your own decision to wear it. We are the ones that have to live with the consequences. I just hate wearing it when I have my bulky Polaris jacket on. It's hard to get your wallet out too.

?'s that's all? I've been wearing mine ever since I started driving. Don't know where you are located, but here in Texas it's ?. Wearing a seatbelt is just like wearing my helmet when I ride my bike. I never ride without it. Just don't feel like being thrown thru my window if I have a wreck like what happened to my cuz. If you saw what I saw, believe me you'd start wearing yours too. Cops said he would have lived if he had it on. Instead he was thrown out the car and cut his legs off in the process. We were right behind him when it happened. Just something to think about.

I got crossed up with a cop once, and he started that BS with the seatbelt and address change on my license.  I was wearing the belt, I always do, and he made me get out of the car as soon as he pulled me over, so there's no way he knew whether or not I was wearing the belt.  ? later to my lawyer and the whole thing was dismissed about 5 minutes into court.  I love it!!!!

That's true but young people in general are favorite targets of cops.

In my area,it doesn't matter what a teenager drives but the cops really pay attention to kids in older cars.

Welcome to the board Smokey.

Thanks.  I really am more of a Ford man but I like reading stuff about all the trucks.  Don't be to hard on me  :).  I have a 65 GMC too.

How about some pics of the '65? I love that body style!

I will watch my usage of the "F" word.  LOL

I can try to show some pics of the 65 GMC but they are kind of depressing.  It is pretty badly rusted out.  Maybe one day I will have enough time and money to fix it up.  I think that is the nicest picup year made IMHO.

    • from another thread   Update...although the truck sometimes seems to idle weird and the transmission shift a little weird, I've driven about 7,000  miles and no issues.   However, the way GM has handled my rental reimbursement, the situation when my truck quit, and the recall in general has led me to this point...I have driven a GM vehicle for the past 46 years and unless I buy a C3 Corvette, this is the last GM vehicle I will ever own.
    • There's some truth to the above, but also, she's selling fullsize trucks and bread/butter CUV's like hotcakes, meanwhile, extracting GM's pickups from the deep discounting sales game.   GM's stock has held its own during her tenure, and the more recent buybacks are delivering cash back to investors and signal confidence in their direction forward. Even with the EV losses.   GM is an example of a modern publicly traded company. The #1 goal of any publicly traded company is to deliver the most value possible to shareholders. Despite being a car company, building the best car isn't GM's path to delivering maximum shareholder value.   McDonalds doesn't make the best burger, or the best coffee.   I've mentioned in another thread, I really don't / won't ever understand Cadillac or Buick in a modern context. Both brands are completely dead to me. I'll cede that the Escalade is a nice SUV, but the brand and nameplate mean nothing to me, and GM will never persuade me to pay north of $170k for a gussied-up Tahoe or Burb. Other people don't mind doing that and that's their purview.   The C8 shares absolutely nothing in common with any other current Chevrolet or Corvette on the market. Since its introduction 8 years ago, it's developed quite the following. It did what other Corvettes couldn't do: reduce the average age of its buyer. GM has something there, and I see them investing in the car. They'd better not mess that up.   We've successfully derailed Grumpy's thread again, but I think this one is meant to be more of a random thought thread so a little wandering is probably OK.
    • Sliding doors ftw   Also, Sienna ftw as well.  The in-laws got a 2024-2025 recently when their 2019 sienna was totaled due to a deer back in June.  They've been getting 38-40mpg on the 65mph highway they live on.
    • Forgot to mention that this started after changing the oil I use mobile 1 full syn with mobile one filter but I did add pro lube additive and was the first time doing so and is making me wonder just can't see why that would matter
