2010 Sierra 1500 Stock Cab Lights Add On

I just bought a brand new 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 and I looked into adding the stock cab lights that come on the 3500's. The very experienced (over 20 years) parts person looked up the part numbers for the harness and for the lights. I asked the service advisor (who also has over 20 years experience) and was told there is some kind of difference between the 1500's versus the 2500's and 3500's electrically and did not think it could be done by just adding the harness and lights. Is there a contact at GMC truck who knows if and how to do this? Has anyone done this on a 2010 or 2011 1500? Thanks!! Jeff
