Ready Lift 4" Question

Thinkin bout doin a ready lift 4" and 33's on 22's.. Anyone know of any problems with that lift? Also is there a lift out there around 4" that doesnt require you to grind off a coolin fin on the diff?

Yes, there is a lift out there that doesn't require that. A leveling kit and body lift won't require that.

Nice truck...I have been looking at the 4" Readylift too, I am going for the same look of your truck but am going to use my stock 18" wheels and probably use either 7/8" or 1-1/2" wheel spacers to get the wider stance. I also want to do a add-a-leaf for better towing performance and to keep a slight rake front to back.

Do you have any more pictures of your truck that show it from different angles other than what is in your signature?

Also, Rough Country has a 3.5" lift that is basically the same as the Readylift 4" as for as I can tell. What is the difference in the Rough Country 3" and their 3.5"? It seems you had a bad experience with their 3" based on your sig!

I don't see anything in the CST instructions where they have you cut the diff. Only the cross member mount that they all have you remove.

Although CST is one of the most expensive lifts out there for 4", it is what I plan to use.

That's because CST is a real suspension lift. The Readylift is a POS glorified 4" leveling kit, NOT a suspension lift. There's a few threads here where we've dissected the Readylift, and Nick has plenty of posts on the RC 3 and 3.5" kits. Search the term readylift using our names in the advanced search options and you'll have plenty of good reading

I'm not sure what the difference is in the older 3" Rough Country kit I had, and the newer 3.5" (aside from they don't make the one I had anymore). They both look exactly the same. RC claims they "re-designed" the old one I had into the newer one and some how squeezed another .5" out of it. Any lift that has to be re-designed due to MULTIPLE problems is a red flag in the first place. There are a couple of people on here that are trying the new one and have had no issues so far with it. There are also a couple of people on gmfullsize.com that I (and a couple of other people) advised not to try it, decided to try it anyways. Their logic was that if it didn't work, they would just pull it off and sell it back, which I don't understand at all. Your already driving a 30k-40k truck, why risk screwing it up with a cheap lift? Well, long story short, they still tried the "new" 3.5" lift and pulled it off in less than a month due to problems.

Like I said, I know of a couple of people that have had it now for a couple of months with no issues yet (so far). Its just a roll of the dice. My truck would align within in the specs that the lift called for, but you could still tell I was riding on the outside of my tires. The bushings squeaked after a couple of hundred miles and the whole lift rode like shit. Not to mention that the Upper Control Arms would rub the coils every time the suspension drooped all the way. I had 4 alignments (from 2 different shops) and and the UCA's adjusted 3 different times to get them off of the coils with no luck. There were so many problems and I bitched enough that RC (with the help from the shop) bought it back from me. I had it for a total of 4-5 months I think. I should also add that it wasn't just a factory defect with my lift that was this way. There were several other people with this kit that had the same/similar issues.

Like I said, the new "re-designed" 3.5 looks just like the old one. I learned the hard way that usually, you do get what you pay for. I should have been more cautious about a lift for $400 that lifts a $35k truck 3-4 inches with no issues down the road . The only reason I push a setup like I have is because of the price for a setup like mine vs. a full suspension lift is a no brainer for me. That is only because if I was going to spend the money that some of these "true" 4" lifts cost, I would go with a 6" and be done with it because usually you want to go taller. That is just me however. Its only because you can accomplish a 4" (and especially a 3"-3.5") lift for so much cheaper, that it is ridiculous. You can't get a 6" + lift without altering the whole suspension. Don't get me wrong, there are some good 4" lifts out there, and I'm not putting them down or people that run them on their trucks at all. But like I said, for me, I would want to go bigger and a lot of times you can get a 6" for close to the same price. That is of course all just my opinion. There are plenty of people that run those 4" lifts that cost a lot of money and love them. I also bet some of them still wish they had went taller also
