Lowering The Rear Of A 2wd C1500

I have a 1997 C1500 2wd regular cab. I want to lower the back of it to better match the front. I want to drop it 2" in the rear only. Is this something I can do myself or should I take it to a shop? I am a heavy equipment mechanic, and know very little about cars. I'm sure I can figure it out, but what parts would I need? I can't just pull a spring because I pull my boat. Is there a shackle kit or something that can be changed out?

I'm not 100% positive about a '97, but I believe a shackle kit would be fine for a 2" drop.
