Shake, Rattle And Roll

Just after I purchased my 2009 Sierra extended cab, I have had these little annoying rattles every time I hit the smallest bump or pothole in the road. It is at the pillar between the driver's side doors, where everything closes together. Very aggravating. I have had my truck into the dealer several times for this issue. They had already changed the latches once, but it didn't make any difference. Just took it in again last week, only to find out that I was not shutting the extended door tight enough. Turns out that when you shut the door very firmly, the rattle disappears. Now the door did not in any way appear to be open or loose, it just needed that little extra umph to get to closed completely. Feel kind of stupid that that is all it was.

 

Also, this has probably been discussed before but be careful which bug deflector you install on your truck. I had the normal kind that contours with the body of your truck. Not good enough, it disturbed the airflow to the point that the windows were rattling as well. I read more about this on this forum, and discovered that I was not the only one having this issue. I purchased the AVS Aeroskin Hood protector. This unit does not screw on like the last one, but it uses two way tape to stick directly to your hood. It is molded and contoured exactly to your hood. Only took a few minutes to install it. Took it out for a test drive, and viola, no more rattles or vibrations anywhere!!! Now I am very happy with my truck again!

 

I am sure all of this has been discussed at one time or another on here, but I figured that a recent post may help someone else that was having the same issues.
