Plastic trim piece behind the ext cab seat

Has anyone had a rattle (drive you crazy rattle) in the ext cab behind the seat that long trim piece?  I added some 3m tape to one side and some foam underneath it but it got louder.

My truck does not rattle at all.  It's a good thing, because I am one of those folks who can't hack it.  Here...let me set two empty coke bottles in the floor pan of your back seat.

Let em roll around for a day or two...THAT'LL take your mind off of it huh?

:D

I used to have to fold up a matchbook and stick it in the bat wing vent window on my 1969 Chevy to keep it from whistling.

It's amazing what a well-wedged matchbook can do!

Good luck solving your rattle!

I'm not sure if it's any different on the extended cabs but that plastic strip that runs under the window was rattling on mine.  When I installed my new speakers I had to pull it out to get at the 4x6's in the pillars and noticed that 3 of the clips were missing.  You just start at one end and genty pry up the edges and can pull the whole thing loose.  That's when I noticed the 3 missing clips.  I stoped by Chevy on the way home the following day and the guy at the parts counter gave me a handful for free  I placed them on the posts that were missing them and it's been rattle free since.  That's what my issue was.   I think theres like a dozen for the entire panel.

However like I said I'm not sure if it's the same in the Reg cabs as you guys with the extended cabs.  Mine is a plastic panel that runs from the bottom of the window about a foot down and all the way across the back of the truck.  It snaps down and covers the edges of both the pillars, and just covers the edge of the carpet on the back wall.

I think the rattle is due to the change in weather

Contraction and expansion between the warm and cold

I really dont want to remove the rear seat since its like 20-30 degrees out.  Guess ill wait till spring

Double check it may be your rear seat making all the racket.  I found that mine does.  I went to the dealer to see if there were any replacement parts like rubber gromets or something and found nothing.  Took some heavy cardbord and folded it and the rattle is gone.

Its definitly the plastic trim piece.  I can just touch it and it makes the Darn noise

Do some checking. But, I think there is a TSB out for that rattle. There was a peice missing that helps fasten the trim to the cab or something.
