Gear Ratio

im trying to find out the gear ratio of my rear end and all i could find was that you look under it and theres a sticker that tells it. all i could find is the fluid and fluid level. i got a 2000 gmc sierra 4.8 z71 SLE with the 4l80e tranny. can anyone help me

Look in the glovebox,there's a sticker there that will tell you all about your truck.The gear ratio will be there,then search this site,it's here somewhere just don't remember where

found it! thanks turns out its got the 3.73 in it which according to the couple minutes of research ive done for someone who doesnt tow often thats the best ratio to have...?

Yep! Wifey's '99 Burb has the same ratio :dunno: Look for a G80 code also,that's the locker in the rear diff.,a definite plus :lol:

it has the g80 code and before i get all excited can you explain it to me im still young so my mech knowledge is still growing :dunno:

It's built by Eaton..when there is a 200rpm difference(I believe) in the wheel spin of the rear wheels the diff will automatically lock up and locks both rear wheels together.It will unlock about 20mph.They can break though so don't hammer it too hard when it's about to lock up.There are some members here who know these diffs much better than I do....keep searching,there's a lot of info here on these.
