Radio Problem!

I don't know if anyone has encountered this problem, but my radio has started acting up. It is an '08 sierra with the standard radio/cd player...nonbose, no nav. At random times the radio will switch over to the aux input. When I say random, I mean it. Sometimes it will do it sitting still in park, sometimes going down a smooth road (city or highway), sometimes on a rough road. It does not appear to prefer or discriminate towards or against any particular condition. When this happens, sometimes you can hit a button (say the "band" button) and it will switch back. Most of the time it will switch and then jump right back to the aux input. You can play this game over and over! Sometimes you can touch the dash, face of the radio, steering wheel, etc and it will go back to the radio. There is nothing plugged into the aux input. I am assuming this is probably some sort of ground issue, but I don't know whether it is something in the radio internals or in the dash wiring. Has anyone else experienced the problem, before I go tearing my head unit out and my dash apart???

Steering wheel controls are doing it or it needs a radio.

Sorry, I didn't specify that I do not have any steering wheel controls. I have thought about replacing the unit, but I didn't want to go that route unless I had to.

i suspect the AUX input on the radio is fubar, it might be shorting..

when you put something into that jack it auto switches over, when the ground makes contact, so either something is jammed in there, the prongs are bent, or the port has a ground short on it's solder point on the circuit board, which can happen if someone pushes/forces a connector into it and snaps the solder joints.
