Hello everyone. Its been awhile since I posted on here and who really cares...right? Lol Anyway I have a 2001 Chevy 2500HD ecsb 4x4 8.1 6 spd manual. Impractical/expensive swap? Id sell or trade for an auto truck but seeing that I owe 9 grand on truck I'm prob stuck with it for awhile.

Alot of guys would love to have your setup. :) You'd need a donor truck to make the swap. It would be pretty involved.

That's what I kinda figured. The truck has 95000 miles on it so I'm guessing it still has a lot of life in it. I do not tow or haul with it (the two previous owners did). My fiance' can't drive a manual and refuses to. Sorry but can't and won't get rid of her. Thanks for the reply

Might want to take a snoop around the diesel truck forums. I've heard of a few people doing these types of swaps on d-Max trucks but never an 8.1.

Tell her to get over it.

Tried that Mark but it didn't work lol. She just doesn't feel comfortable driving a full size truck period and the manual makes it even more intimidating for her. I understand her point seeing there are always two very young passengers with either of us at all times.

i would love to have that set up. if i had an 8.1 id straight swap you lol

I'm going to look around and see if I can find an ecsb Chevy or gmc auto to trade for. Doesn't have to be a 2500 HD as I don't tow or haul anything. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks to all

I'm sorry but I have to ask............ How do you owe $9K on a 10-year-old truck? ....... feel free to tell me that it's none of my business...... Inquiring minds just like to know how this sort of thing can happen.... :)

I ask myself the same question sometimes :P I bought the truck right before winter last year and at the time everything that I liked or didn't have over 200,000 miles on it was in the $9-15,000 range. That's how my luck is and always has been :D Anyway after financing/gap insurance/ taxes the total came to a lil over $10,000. Of course a few months later ppl are literally givn trucks away. Now the prices are Startn to creep back up on used 4x4s here. I was in need of a 4wd truck at the time, it had everything I wanted (except auto but I didn't want or need.it at the time bc we also had a 4wd suv) and the price was reasonable I thought at the time compared to everything else I had looked at.
