2006 Crew Cab Headliner

I have not noticed this before, but when I push up on the dome light in the middle of the headliner, I can push it up about an inch. So the light and headliner in the middle is floating in there. I thought it was attached to the roof cross member with some clips. Is this the way it is designed, or did something come loose? It does not seem like the headliner is sagging, but still, this does look odd.

There is a TSB to put three clips into the headliner to secure it. i noticed it about a week after i got my truck and that was the fix.

Can you post that TSB? How do the clips go in? Do you remove the dome light first? Are these clips available from GM?

It will take me a little while. I am not on my regular computer. IIRC, the headliner has to come out, something has to be added and then the headliner has to be put back in. I dont remember exactly what but look closely at the roof:

So basically, nothing is wrong with my headliner, that is the way GM installed it right? So they would have fixed it under warranty using the TSB mentioned only if someone complained of a sagging headliner?

yep. Dad mentioned it when I bought the truck new in '06. I got tired of it and complained. A LOT of other trucks had the same condition....

My 05 has the same 'problem'.

I dont like how it hangs so low, but it has never given me a problem so I don't think anything of it.

Nice to know that it is somewhat normal.

Yup. Take the center light out (pop the lens off and then you can pull the light assembly off) and you'll see there is nothing above it supporting it. There is about 5-6 inches of open space above the light.

Is that the case with the GMT900 series as well?
