Brake Pedal Bushing

Recommended Posts

I've got some kind of rattling/thumping noise under my dash on my '06 Silverado when I go over bumps. The only thing I can find is my brake pedal has slop in it where it pivots on the bolt. Is there a replacement bushing or something that anyone knows of or do I have to get a new brake pedal assembly? Has anyone else had an issue with this on a GMT800?

No one has ever replaced or heard of anyone replacing the pedal bushings that the pedal pivots on?

Does it have manual shift 4x4? Sometimes those levers hit the side of the hole in the floor from the factory.

No. I already replaced that. The brake pedal has slop in it when I move it side to side and forward and backwards. Is it supposed to be like that? That's the only thing I can find that is loose that might be making the noise.

I dont doubt its the pedal. How about a cab mount loose? Just an idea. I think there is a bulletin about that. Think they remove the bolts, lube and re-install. Hope you find it!

I remember tracking down all my rattles. I recall twisting myself up under the dash and 'tightening' the brake pedal pivot bolt. After about a hundred eighth turns I realized it was just spinning and not getting tighter. I still have movement left to right.

Any update?

All the cab mounts were tight. I cannot find anything else. I think I'm gonna have someone drive it while I try to lay under the dash and look for it.

Do you still think that's the noise? Does anyone else have movement left to right and forward/backwards? Just wondering if that's normal. The bushings are extremely cheap, but if that's not the problem, I really don't want to tear that apart. Doesn't look like much fun. :)

I have a 2006 2wd crew cab and have the same issue, I also have the slop in the brake pedal that you speak of.

when you ride over the road that makes the rattle, hook your foot under the brake pedal the pull on it to try to take up the slack and see if the noice ceases.
