Does anyone have any clue about when the 2004 tahoes will be released?  Will the front end be the only thing that changes.  I'm trying to decide if I should buy a 2003 Z71 or wait for the new ones.  HELP!

Mervs, what do you mean the front end will not change?  How do you know that?  I've read many posts that give reliable info that the Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon will get the new front that the pick-ups got this year.  I'm planning on purchasing a new Tahoe in the Spring, and am wrestling with the question of getting a 2003 with the current front or wait till next summer and get the new front end.

... just looking for answers.

And the front end will NOT change.  :D

Are they pushing it back to 2005 or something?

I've heard oh... maybe from 50-60 different people that 2004 was the year they'd be updating to the same clip the Silverado got in 2003, which is the same way the updates worked for them in 99 and 00.

Also Merv- I think I've seen you mention that there will be major updates to GM's engines in 04.  Are you just referring to D-O-D, or are you talking about changes to other things such as power ratings, cam profiles, displacement, etc?

Front end will change but not as much as P/U's.

DOD engines will begin to appear.  First availability will be Full Size Suv's, P/U's later.

Pseudo-Hybrid drives will begin to appear.  P/U's first Suv's later.

Full size SUV's may get alumininum blocks, i.e. Trailblazer Ext, P/U's will not.

There will probably be a few more engine enhacements.

If you are interested in a Z-71 Tahoe, I would definately wait.  DOD alone will improve your highway mileage 15 to 25%.

displacement on demand

highway you run 4 cylinders instead of 8.  15-20% savings in gas

Can someone point me in the right direction on the web to find out more information about the redesign in 2004 of the Tahoe....   I am thinking of getting a z71 as well, but I would like to see what the new front end will look like (if its not going to be the same as the new silverados).  Plus, I would like to read up on the new engine enhancements such as DOD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.   :jester:

Mervz~how do you know the front ends will not change?  Ive heard that there is going to be a change....does anyone think that the trade in value will go down drastically on the 2003 if the 2004 does change a bit.

Ouch!  That DOD sounds like the old Cadillac 8-6-4 that was junk?  I hope they have improved it.  Nothing wrong with V8 power or fuel economy! IMO

This is a much better system, all computerized for a much smoother operation.  I think GM's biggest problem is that when people here DOD they think of the caddys.

There will be no sheet metal changes on the fullsize suvs until the next full body redesign.  The only thing changing on the suv's will be interior options and chassis/powertrain upgrades.

C'mon people, when you make bold statements about future model changes, include why and how you came about this information.

LoClass, what is your source?  How do you know this?
