Gmt800 Extended Cab Passenger Rear Door Leak.

Been looking at used 2003-07 GMT800 1500 series extended cab trucks to buy the last 3 weeks. Out of 23 of them,

13 of the has had the passenger right rear door leak air as I drive it at hwy speeds 65>. 5 of them had under 40,000

miles on them. The most was 92,000 miles.

 

So is this a regular thing ? Like having to replace the 3 door molding's .

I have an 07 classic which is the same body style you are looking at. Mine has the air leak, but it is not the actual door it is the pop out window. If i have someone ride back there at 65mph and they push the widow level tight it will seal up and stop leaking. From the little bit of research i have done it is more then just molding to get this to stop leaking.

 

As long as i have the radio on i rarely notice the noise.

This appears to be a common issue on GMT800 extended cabs. I believe there are several TSBs on this.

Months ago, there was someone on here who found a replacement latch for the rear windows on extended cabs that would latch them tighter. May be worth a search..

guess i got lucky. 04 extended cab sierra 5.3l and i cant hear any air when im on the highway.

Is it the window or the door? My windows will start leaking from time to time..... Clean up open the window wipe out with a wet clean cloth..... and it usually kills the noise....

 

Seems as if there is a TSB on this also.

Its just a air leak around the rear door window on the x-cabs.

Very common issue. The dealer cure is to just replace the

whole rear window.

 

A guy on e-bay has made a replacement adjustable latch

piece to cure this problem.
