07 Silverado Afm Questions

Ok so here about 3 weeks ago I got a 07 Silvy it has a little over 100k on the odo and was reading some stuff about a particular brand of oil. I am not sure about the Oil history in the truck as I bought it from a dealership but I was thinking about putting Mobil 1 High Mileage in it with a Mobil filter my truck has DOD/AFM and I was reading something about the lifters and was also wondering what weight to use? My truck also has flexfuel and I was thinking about running a can of seafoam through my truck but not sure on what it may do? This is not my first truck but it is my first truck with DOD and just wanna get all my questions answered before I go doing something that Im not sure about.

Mobil 1 High Mileage motor oil and a Mobil 1 filter would be a good choice. The GMT900 trucks (1/2 ton Chevy and GMC's from 2007 new body style thru 2011) all take 5W30 oil unless you're in an artic climate, then you can use OW30. All of the V8 motors take 6.0 quarts according to the owner's manual, but on a lot of the vehicles, this will put the oil level a little above full on the dipstick, with no harm done. Change the oil and filter when the Oil Life Monitor says to--any sooner than that will be a waste of high dollar synthetic oil. While you're under the truck, don't forget to use a grease gun to lube the 2 suspension zerks (all other zerks are factory-sealed).

I dunno anything about Seafoam, but GM says in the owner's manuals that GM Fuel System Cleaner with Techron is approved and this is the same as Chevron Fuel System Cleaner with Techron you can buy at Wal-Mart, etc. You can add 2 bottles of this to your gas tank at each oil change. Seems to work well and will even keep the gas-gauge float in your fuel tank from sticking.

Don't worry about your AFM--some trucks have had problems, but a lot more have not. Just do good maintenance and drive it like you need to.

I run Mobil 5w30. I fill the oil filter first before threading it on. And mine takes 6.5 qts of oil. If I only put 6 in i'm roughly 1/2 way up the hash marks on the dipstick.
