98 Silverado Wont Start

I have a 98 Silverado that wont start. I have good fuel pressure Just replaced filter. Thought maybe ignition but I prime with few drops of gas on top of butterfly valve and it fires up. It will run after that I noticed but if it sits 30 or so min. wont start again. So just for the sake of checking I primed again and it ran. put modis on and no codes are on it 9exept for left bank sensor) but that wouldn't keep from starting. I am thinking fuel pressure regulator but don't like to troubleshoot out of my wallet.

Im almost postive you have a dis cap if so check the ignition module and coil.

What is dis cap? Also does ignition module tell injectors to open or is it crankcase sensor. I cant figure why it runs after putting gas on butterfly and not another way. Would make sense if ignition module tells them to open. If sensor then wouldn't I get a code.

Well if you have good fuel pressure then its the ignition without a doubt replace the ignition module and see where you stand.Theres three major things of a motor in order for it run compression, fuel, ignition fuel pressure is good.Compression must be good if it still has power.ignition needs to be checked.

Ok I got it I think (too busy to work a lot on it) but I found dist. loose and modis shows -13 turned to zero and waited little bit and it started up. Maybe that was it.

So it runs fine as long as you prime it first? Then won't start if sits for 30+ minutes? Also just replaced filter? I'd go over everything from tank to injectors to make sure something hasn't come loose or broke in your fuel system. Sounds like a matter of loosing prime & air getting into your lines somewhere. Hopefully it's not an external leak & spraying fuel somewhere on you. Good luck.

I have a 2001 GMC Yukon that has similar problems. If I try and start the truck, it won't. If I turn the key back to starting position (priming the fuel pump), it normally starts (sometimes I have to prime it a 3rd time).

Fuel pump changed, fuel filter changed and fuel regulator changed. Have not touched injectors ignition system at all (this does not have dis cap; but individual coils for each plug).

Any ideas?
