Liftgate Locking Actuator

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I have a problem with my lift gate locking actuator. Basically the motor went bad. I opened the actuator and replaced the motor, but in the process I broke the worm gear that slips on to the motor. I am having MAJOR problems trying to find that worm gear (which I somewhat expected). I would like to just replace the actuator assembly. but I am unable to find JUST the actuator alone, instead I am only finding the COMPLETE rear assembly which is like $300.00 from the dealer. Can anyone help me find the part number or any information on JUST the rear actuator assembly?

Just so that we are on the same page, this is basically the motor that is hooked into the power locks, and when the doors are unlocked the actuator engages the push rods, and allows the rear lift gate top open, and when the doors are locked it engages the actuator the other way, and locks the rear lift gate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks in advance.

BTW - I have a 2005 Chevy Suburban.

Unfortunately, I have called around to about 10-15 junk yards in several counties around me, and they all went to sell an ENTIRE tailgate, and don't want to part out the electronics (when did junk yards become so useless???)... Any other responses to my original inquiry???

Bumping for more advice. I can't believe this is so hard!!! I have never had problems getting parts like this for my Ford.

Ever try LMC trucks? They have a great many parts, even if they don't sell the piece you need, the assembly might be cheaper. Plus you can sign up to receive their free catalog for your truck.

Thanks I just looked, but I don't see anything for the rear tailgate/liftgate for the SUV. They seem to have components for the rear tailgate of trucks, but didn't see one for the Suburban. Any other suggestions?

go find a used car lot that will let you test drive a suburban by yourself...

Uhhhhhhhh, that'd be cruel ........ Almost as bad as the wholesale auctions buyers removing remotes from cars keys. In order to get another one for a vehicle on a lot or for another customer........................ I know this happens.
