Intake Manifold Seal And Knock Sensor Questions

Recommended Posts

so im planning on replacing my knock sensors this weekend and know that i am goin to have to replace the intake manifold seal. my question is how hard is it to actually take off the intake? im pretty new to doing engine work like this but am not new to using wrench to doing lifts and front end work. would i be better off getting a mechanic to do it or do it my self? are these the seals there talking about that i have to replace? http://www.partstrain.com/store/details/GM...98016t102inmaga i have no idea since ive never seen them before. any help is appreciated

Its not hard. The intake doesnt have any coolant or oil in it, and the throttle body can stay bolted to the intake.

Just be careful moving the wiring around and get a fuel line disconnect for GMs so you dont have to pull the fuel rails/injectors out. Also, take your time with the electrical weatherpak clips, they can test your temper...

Torque the intake correctly and in the right sequence. Get a 20 dollar manual at pepboys to help you. Its worth it.

Those are the correct seals.

it took me 8 hrs to do this job. would have been 5ish or less but i had the stud on the bottom of the knock sensor shear off so i had to drill it out

Money and time ahead to get both sensors and the wiring harness.....................

Easy job. Couple hours max. Dry intake so, don't worry about getting water in the engine.
