Mods on ruck; Gibson Dual rear exit Exhaust

Predator Programmer

So lately Gio has been wanting to tune some domestic cars and programs just to gain knowledge and insight. He has a somewhat eccentric boss who is really into having modded vehicles and so my brother convinced him to get himself any type of programmer and he would tune it. Owner bought himself a Predator Programmer. The truck is a 5.3 LM7 with 208k on the clock.

The Predator tunes were absolutely worthless, 16+ air/fuel ratio loss over 20whp and 20ft ls tq, owner of the truck was changing skin color because he was so mad. Luckily Gio was able to make his own tune and good some decent results I think. More mods coming in the near future I'll keep you guys updated.

Orange = OEM tune

Blue = Predator Tune :thumbs:

Green = Custom Tune by Gio

That made more power than I thought it would. 2WD I assume?

Yup it is a 2wd. I'm not really sure if these numbers are normal and what these trucks put down stock. Most imporatant things are the gains from the baseline and the sotp imo. Owner was very happy as you can tell from the vid, first timehe romped o it after tuning the truck fishtailed and was aiming towards the light pole!

Yea i was also inmpressed with the numbers.With LTs and a blackbear tune you might be close to 300 mark.

Stock hp rating from factory is 295hp and 335tq, when I dynoed my truck stock is was getting 220 RWHP and 253 RWTQ, when I got my tune and intake it jumped up to 250 RWHP and 300 RWTQ, factory exhaust still on but mods to come are new cam, headers, custom dumped exhaust and 3.73's instead of my little 3.23's might even go 4.10's but unsure. new tq converter and corvette servo and hopefully I will be done lol.

Was any logging done here?

Was it knocking on the diablo tune?

Looks like a case of a 93 octane tune being loaded to a truck with a tank full of 87 octane...

If it was on the dyno, theres no need to wonder why it lost power, all the answers are right there in a datalog.

Going to send you a pm, Predator Unit is nice and easy to use. I just wanto figure what happened here.

One note, for some reason off the shelf tunes never seem to work down here in South Florida. Wheteher it is a JWT(Nissans), Phearable(Honda), and maps from DSM's. The same symptons of running lean appear across all makes. Maybe it has to do something with us being a bit under sea level and very very humid?

BTW I also really doubt some guy who is nowhere near a vehicle can e-mail a tune that would be optimal or at least as good as someone who is there live tuning.

I can see your point in the matter but, here's what BlackBear Performance does or at least to my knowledge, They initially ask you certain key points to what you have recently done to your truck, you tell them and they send you the autocal tuning log device, from there you hook it up to the truck run some data logs of driving then once enough is recorded, you send them off and he starts fine tuning an PCM then sends it to you, once you install new PCM you run some more data logs and send the data once more, the replies are very quick, within a few hours, and from there he can tell you what to fine tune if needed to run optimal. Now would this kind of tune be good to use if you installed a new cam in the truck, no since you would directly need the tune after install, but myself and others on here can say that these mail order tunes are WAY better than an Diablo handheld or any other handhelds of the matter.

Sounds much better than just a mail order tune for sure. But I still prefer tuning it myself with the Predator Programmer.

I might agree, except that we are in South Florida, and all our tunes are developed here :thumbs:

Where are you guys located?
